Hop To The Beat Dance Studios
Come on out to the Boston area's newest dance spot, Uptown Swing!
Live bands are featured monthly on Saturdays, usually the 3rd of the
month. The atmosphere is always fun and friendly and beginners are
very welcome. No partner required.
Brookline Tai Chi is a beautiful space with a smooth wood floor and a convenient location on Beacon Street in Brookline. For those taking the T, it is directly across from the Washington Square stop on the Green Line. If you want to come early for dinner or a drink, there are plenty of places nearby. Street parking is free after 6:00pm. Please bring a change of clean shoes to protect the floor.

Springstep is a spacious, three-story building with three performance and rehearsal halls, all with floating hardwood floors, built-in custom sound systems, and air-conditioning. The building is almost entirely glass on one side, allowing people passing by to watch the dancing inside. Blues Cafe features a rotation of fantastic Blues, Lindy Hop, and West Coast Swing DJs, plus occasional live bands in a classy cafe atmosphere. A beginner Blues Dance lesson is included with entry fee and will be taught by Elizabeth Miller and Davis Thurber from 8-9pm. No partner necessary. Midnight buffet will be offered for $10 in advance and will not be available for purchase at the door.

Come and swing dance out in the open on a beautiful summer day! No experience necessary to participate and no partner required. You'll find a wide range of dance experience, from novice to expert. Music by a variety of great local DJs, and you couldn't ask for a better location! Copley Square is a bustling area in the heart of the Back Bay district. The Boston Public Library, Old South Church, Trinity Church, and John Hancock Tower are major landmarks within the square, along with a statue honoring the Boston Marathon. The lovely Public Garden is only a few blocks away if you want to take a ride on the Swan Boats before you dance, and the Copley Mall and Prudential Center are even closer if you feel like shopping.

Although not included with the cost of the weekend, this is a great live music club, restaurant, and bar. Johnny D's hosts one of the longest running open blues jams in the Boston area every Sunday for local or visiting artists. Guitarist Mike Welch and the Hoodoo Men are the house band and MCs. The dance floor is small, but it's usually all ours, and they have some great food when you feel like taking a break. Entry fee is only $3 and it's open to all ages (under 18 with a parent). No experience necessary to participate and no partner required.
NOTE: This venue is NOT included in the pre-pay weekend!

About the Venue: Well known for its monthly house parties, Cornerstone House is opening its doors to BIX! With nice wooden floors and cozy social spaces, Cornerstone is a great place to unwind for late night dancing. Dancing will go until dawn or dancers fall over, which ever comes first! This will be followed up by a huge brunch and movie viewing. Guests are asked to come and share their own beverages and snacks. Also, please come dance in socks or sueded shoes-- this is a relatively new floor!
